The highest mountains in Austria are Grossglockner, Wildspitze, Weisskugel, Grossvenediger, Similaun and Grosses Wiesbachhorn.

Austria has an Alpine climate which is not always predictable. The weather can vary depending on the elevation. However, the snowfall in winter is very reliable. In the autumn and spring months a warm, dry wind called the Foehn can blow throug the Alps and valleys which can trigger avalanches.
